15 Bafflingly Low Rotten Tomatoes Scores You Won't Believe

11. Final Destination (33%)

Critical Consensus: "Despite a panel of X-Files' alums at the helm and a promising premise, flighty performances and poor execution keep Final Destination from ever taking off." Why It€™s Wrong: Yes, it's far from a perfect movie, but Final Destination is one of the most inventive and clever horror films of the 2000s. Turning the genre on its head with an invisible antagonist and taking grand glee in setting its hapless victims up for hilariously cartoonish deaths, it's a rare horror movie that managed to be intense, smart and funny all at the same time. Plus, it kick-started a series of mostly entertaining, occasionally awful movies which represented a welcome change from generic slasher fare. Why The Critics Hated It: They do have a point with some of the performances and the constrictive nature of the budget for such an outlandish premise. Sadly, they weren't able to see past these limitations and accept the demented brilliance of the idea for what it was, even though they did give kinder reviews to the second (48%), third (43%) and fifth (61%) movies.
