15 Best Horror Movie Directors Ever

11. Roger Corman

When Roger Corman received an honorary Oscar in 2009, it was in recognition of the support he gave to a number of aspiring filmmakers (including James Cameron, Francis Ford Coppola and Joe Dante) rather than his skills as a director, but his resume speaks for itself. Deride him as the director of Attack Of The Crab Monsters and She Gods Of Shark Reef if you wish, but he also directed The Little Shop Of Horrors (1960), The Intruder (1962) and A Bucket Of Blood (1959), which are a crash course in how to an entertaining movie with no time or money. Then there€™s his Edgar Allan Poe films, which include House Of Usher (1960), Pit And The Pendulum (1961) and The Raven (1963). The best of the lot is The Masque Of The Red Death (1966), a beautifully photographed (by Nicolas Roeg), Bergman-like film where Vincent Price€™s mad Prince Prospero parties while the plague ravages the countryside.
