15 Best Horror Movies Of 2017
6. Personal Shopper
Unlike other films on this list, Personal Shopper isn't a straight horror movie in the conventional sense, but boy is it scarier than 90% of the films released this year.
Maureen, a personal shopper played by the always remarkable Kristen Stewart, is in Paris attempting to make contact with her dead brother from beyond the grave, but despite its supernatural premise, the psychological thriller never devolves into being a mere haunted house movie.
Instead, the flick is ostensibly about the guilt and grief Stewart's character feels following her bereavement, as she struggles to accept that the strange goings on may be nothing more than her own mind playing tricks on her.
With that said, the film isn't lacking in haunting imagery and suspenseful sequences, it's just that the core emotional themes of grief and letting go of loved ones running throughout serve to elevate these more conventional scares into truly resonant frights.
