15 Best Jump Scares In Movie History

8. The Ending - Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978)

Horror movie endings don't come much more pant-fillingly terrifying than the climax to the marvellous 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake.

At the end of the movie, it appears that Nancy (Veronica Cartwright) and Matthew (Donald Sutherland) are the only two people left in the city who haven't been replaced by alien duplicates.

As Nancy runs into Matthew on the street, her relief quickly turns to horror as he points at her and lets out a terrifying screech, making it clear that he is also a pod person and Nancy is now the only human left.

From the sheer shock value of the ending through to the use of sound and Donald Sutherland's burned-into-your-retinas facial expression, it does everything right. This is one of the many reasons why so many consider it to be a rare remake that outdoes the original.
