15 Best Movies About Drugs And Addiction In Cinema History

13. Pineapple Express

It's difficult to form a list of drug-riddled films without considering Seth Rogen - a marijuana endorser who unashamedly admits to being loaded from the moment he rolls out of bed. Rogen is rarely much more than a caricature of himself in the movies, but his boundless comic energy and endearing wit means that he rarely needs to be. Pineapple Express sees Rogen look like himself, act like himself, and smoke like himself - but call his character Dale Denton. It's through his writing where Rogen really shines, and Pineapple Express is not only funny in its hazy, red-eyed, slurring moments, but also when it engages in over-the-top action-thriller absurdity. Denton gets in way over his head when he witnesses a cold-blooded killing, and soon finds himself on the run with his drug-dealer Saul (James Franco). Rogen's gang are all here and on form, including Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, and a fleeting appearance from Bill Hader, and Pineapple Express is one of the funniest films about the dangers of drug-dealing industry that you're ever likely to see.
