11. The Invisible Man

Harley Quinn Birds Of Prey
Universal

By now, even the most easily startled horror hater has heard about how superb Saw mastermind Leigh Wannell's The Invisible Man remake is, with the intense Elizabeth Moss vehicle managing to win over mainstream critics despite technically coming from the same Universal monster movie reboot stable as (believe it or not) 2017's laughable attempt at a reboot of The Mummy.

How did this flick succeed where that earlier attempt failed?
Easy!

By stripping back the story to its most bare bones and essential elements, then updating the tale with some timely social commentary and adding the Mad Men star for a guaranteed superb central turn.
