The Avengers is the movie comic book fans had always dreamt of. Not only does it finally bring the Avengers to the big screen, but those characters were also given a very high-quality film.
The Avengers are wonderfully played, given a phenomenal script from writer-director Joss Whedon and also get to take part in some absolutely outstanding action sequences, making this a near-perfect first cinematic rendering of the beloved superhero team. Yes, the plot is fairly straight-forward but if you want a satisfying, genuinely joyous viewing you can't do much better than The Avengers.
Inevitably, the novelty of seeing the Avengers together on-screen has long since worn off, but nevertheless, thanks to the great work done by everyone involved, The Avengers holds up very well nearly a decade after its release even after bigger team-up movies such as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
