15 Biggest MonsterVerse Mistakes (So Far)

11. Godzilla Constantly Being Side-Lined

Despite Godzilla being, more or less, the star of this franchise (he has headlined three of its films, after all), he's not nearly as prominent as you'd expect - or as he deserves to be, for that matter.

In Godzilla (2014), the titular character's reduced screen-time worked very well. It showed director Gareth Edwards learning lessons from some of the monster movie classics like Jaws and Alien, and taking care not to show the monster too much. This was very effective in that movie and it meant that every time Godzilla appeared he made a hell of an impact, but that was the first movie.

In the subsequent films, there was no need to side-line Godzilla now that he'd been properly introduced. Unfortunately, that's what both Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla Vs. Kong did.

Godzilla is down for much of King of the Monsters, recovering from an attack, while Godzilla Vs. Kong focuses a lot more on Kong than Godzilla.

Since these movies are meant to be about Godzilla, and considering that he's also a great film monster who's arguably far more interesting than Kong, Godzilla continuously being absent has been a major blunder on the franchise's part.
