15 Biggest Unresolved Plot Holes In Harry Potter
12. Barty Crouch Junior’s Plan

At the end of The Goblet of Fire, Mad-Eye Moody is revealed to be a Death Eater called Barty Crouch Junior. He was the one who entered Harry into the Triwizard Tournament and guided him through the tasks to ensure he was the first to touch the Triwizard Cup – which was actually a portkey.
Though he deserves credit for executing his plan so effectively, Crouch could have sent Harry to Voldemort much more easily. Why didn’t he just use another item as a portkey and get Harry to touch that instead? Before the first task, the pair of them were actually alone discussing Harry’s best chances of defeating a dragon, and it would have been so simple to give Harry a portkey in this scene.
As great as The Goblet of Fire undoubtedly is, Harry Potter fans are still scratching their heads about Crouch’s convoluted plan.
