15 Break-Out Film Actors Who Ruled 2012

5. Rafe Spall

Rafe Spall The son of British character actor Timothy Spall, Rafe had an early break into the movie business with lots of minor roles in films and TV, especially in his native England. But folks in America might have only recognized him from bit parts in Edgar Wright€™s Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz (he was also in the Kidulthood and Green Street Hooligans). But after the attention grabbing role of William Shakespeare in last year€™s underrated Anonymous, the second generation actor really got noticed this year in the sci-fi conversation starter Prometheus. Later in the year, he also popped up in Life of Pi, in a role he took over from Tobey Maguire because director Ang Lee did not want his famous face to distract from the story. Well if this year is any indication, Spall€™s face is about to get a whole lot more famous too. What€™s Next: The F Word w/ Daniel Radcliffe & Zoe Kazan; the rom-com I Give It a Year w/ Rose Byrne & Anna Farris.
