15 So-Called 'Must See' Films In 2015 (That Might Actually Be Worth Watching)

3. The Hateful Eight

The Hype: Quentin Tarantino's latest film is, once again, a western, revolving around bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his prisoner Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) as they encounter a number of travelers who may or may not have their best interests at heart. The cast is rounded out by Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Demian Bechir, Walton Goggins, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern and Channing Tatum. Why It'll Probably Deliver: It's a Tarantino movie. Not much else to say here, though as anyone who has read the leaked version of the script will know, it's as fantastically foul-mouthed and ultra-violent as you'd expect from the filmmaker. Why It Might Not: That said, those expecting another Basterds or Django might be setting themselves up for disappointment, given that this movie is budgeted at just $44 million (Basterds was $75 million, Django was $100 million), and takes place in a small number of locations. If Tarantino's final shooting script is much like the leaked one, then it's more like a play than anything the director has made before, and so TWC shouldn't be anticipating a smash hit on the level of Django, especially given the lack of appealing stars for younger audiences. But it's almost certainly not going to be bad.
