12. All The Awesome Mythic Fights Take Place In The First 3 Minutes - Hercules
The marketing for Brett Ratner's Hercules sold the Dwayne Johnson-starring action flick on the basis that viewers would get to feast their eyes on awesome action scenes in which the mythic man-beast would be fighting gigantic lions, three-headed hydra and so on. Sadly, though, this is all dispensed with in the first three minutes of the film, with all of those awesome scenes from the trailer being packed into one brief montage in the movie's opening scene. The rest of the film is, in fact, a postmodern retelling of the Hercules myth, revising the legend in a far more plausible manner. Though Ratner is to be commended for doing something a little different, it's still a shame that the trailers had to market the film so deceptively, and as a result, many were left underwhelmed by a film that seemed to downplay its own awesomeness by making Hercules a man rather than super-human.
