15 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The James Bond Franchise

8. Die Another Day's Failure Totally Needed To Happen

Die Another Day is quite possibly the worst Bond film ever made, what with its inane plot, rubbish characters and overabundance of CGI-fueled set-pieces. It's every poor, over-produced Bond instinct played out to its highest, worst degree, and despite huge financial success, critical reception was deeply mixed, eventually leading to the acclaimed gritty retooling with Daniel Craig taking over the role. The sad thing is that Die Another Day's failure absolutely needed to happen in order to make EON see that Bond had become goofy beyond recognition and in need of a fix. In much the same way that Batman and Robin's failure led to the brilliantly dark Christopher Nolan reboot series, had Die Another Day not been quite so terrible, audiences may have had to suffer through a few more unbearably goofy Bond flicks before the inevitable reboot happened, quite possibly without Craig.
