15 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The Marvel Cinematic Universe
4. The Inevitable "Where Was Everybody Else?" Plot Hole In Standalone Movies
One of the biggest, most unavoidable issues facing the MCU is that, since The Avengers brought the superheroes together, each subsequent standalone film has had viewers wondering, "Wait a minute, where was everybody else when Tony Stark had his home blown up by the Mandarin? That'd be an awesome time for Thor or the Hulk or Cap to show up and help save the day." Though Marvel has attempted to hand-waive this numerous times with various excuses, few of them are very satisfying, except for Thor, who has the constant get-out that he could be off in another realm doing something else. What Can Be Done About It?: Given the intricacy of the world Marvel has created, it's really just one of those things that's best to just try and forget about. Yes, in reality, it would make sense for The Avengers to help each other out in their times of need, but the result would likely be a very cluttered series of films which have no clear structure. Still, some more plausible excuses for character absences wouldn't be such a bad thing, especially if Marvel start poking fun at the absurdity of this conceit.
