15 Crazy Facts You Have To Accept To Enjoy Star Wars Movies

6. Boba Fett: The Asteroid Boy

Originally introduced in the Star Wars Christmas Special... I mean, Empire Strikes Back, Boba Fett has captivated fans with his mysterious presence and his notoriety among even the most dangerous of bounty hunters. After all, Darth Vader tells him specifically "no disintegrations" on the Solo job.

It's for this reason that many were dismayed when his background was expanded on in Episode II as an unmodified clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, who raises him as a son. Many felt that this inclusion erased much of his allure and uniqueness in the original trilogy, inheriting a family business instead of running one.

Despite this, Boba doesn't learn all of his tricks of the trade from Jango, at least not entirely. During Obi Wan Kenobi's pursuit of Jango to the planet Geonosis, Jango bombards him with seismic charges in an asteroid field. In an effort to feign his death and thus reclaim his elusiveness, Obi Wan attaches his ship to an asteroid and powers down completely, effectively removing himself from Jango's radar.

The scene is entertaining, but otherwise may seem disposable enough in the grand scheme of things. That is until you put it into context with Episode V, where Han Solo evades the Empire by powering down on a Star Destroyer's expelled waste. Everyone is fooled - except Boba Fett.

Boba Fett is never fooled twice and it's thanks to Obi Wan Kenobi that he's able to seize Solo.
