15 Crazy Facts You Have To Accept To Enjoy Star Wars Movies
4. Darth Maul Survived Naboo
If you haven't seen Solo: A Star Wars Story, you really should have. The Star Wars spin-off may have been a box office bomb and received lukewarm reviews from many critics, but it's hard to deny its lighthearted charm and heist film tendencies. What made the film really stand out though wasn't the banter between Lando and Han, but its twist ending, in which it revealed that Qi'ra had actually been working for Maul (having dropped the "Darth" title). Maul is seen in a hologram with his iconic double-bladed lightsaber, commanding Qi'ra to report to him on Dathomir for regrouping.
The more casual Star Wars fans, or at least those who actually saw the film, were flabbergasted by this twist, mainly because the last time they saw Maul he had just been cut in half by Obi Wan, and then fallen down a bottomless trench.
However, fans of The Clone Wars series will know that Maul is literally too angry to die. His hatred for Obi Wan allowed him to access deeper into the dark side, preserving his body, albeit not his mind. His rise to leader on Mandalore is a fantastic arc and a highlight in the series.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Disney is going to fill in the gaps through the movies any time soon, so the more casual fans will just have to accept that Maul is alive because he is.
