14. Kingpin
Made in between the contemporary-comedy-classic duo of Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary, Kingpin, the second film from Farrelly brothers, Bobby and Peter, is easily the most cult film in their canon. Starring a trio of great comedic performances from Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid, and, of course, Bill Murray, Kingpin is the bizarre tale of a prodigious ten-pin bowler (Harrelson) who loses his hand - replaced by a hook - when a hustle-job on some other bowlers goes wrong. Murray's Ernie "Big Ern" McCracken is partly responsible for Roy's mutilation, and thus the stage becomes set for a bowling show-down between the two. Imbued with the sophomore humour the brothers have become synonymous with, Kingpin, while never quite as consistently funny as Dumb and Dumber or There's Something About Mary, remains one of the cult comedies of the 90s, often referred to as duo's own, albeit inferior, Big Lebowski.
