6. The Thing Reveals Its Entire Plot In The First Five Minutes
I can't imagine what a let-down this film must have been for audiences in Norway when it was just released. In the film's opening scene, a group of Norwegian hunters chasing a dog land in an American camp.
The Norwegians yell a lot of things at the Americans that they, and the audience, cannot understand. But audiences in Norway did, and it damn near spoiled the entire film for them. What the Norwegians are actually shouting is: "Get the hell away! It's not a dog! It's a thing! It's imitating a dog! It is not real! Get away you idiots!"
Of course, the American characters - and audience - can't understand them, and only discover the true nature of the Thing much later in the film. If only they had brushed up on their Norwegian before watching the movie. Speaking of early spoilers of major plot points only actually revealed much later in a film...
