There are so many to choose from: the cheerful Hakuna Matata, the romantic Can You Feel the Love Tonight, and the wicked Be Prepared, but in the end, it had to be Circle of Life. Composed by Elton John and written by Tim Rice, Circle of Life accompanies the majestic opening scene of the film, chronicling the journey by seemingly every animal on the savannah to honor the birth of the future lion king. The movie version of the song begins with vocals in Zulu sung by Lebo M. and Carmen Twillie performs the main vocal portion. It has a beautiful flute interlude as well. The song is incredibly powerful when paired with the images on screen, especially when, at the end of the song, the title screen booms into frame. It is an unforgettable movie sequence.

It invites you sit back and enjoy the most extravagant musical number ever performed by magical household items. Be Our Guest, which was written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, is a cabaret-style romp that captures the feel of golden-age Hollywood musical numbers. Jerry Orbach lays on the French charm as the candlestick Lumiere and Angela Lansbury is jovial as teapot Mrs. Potts. The song is an amusing and enchanting piece that never fails to bring back memories.
