15 Dumb Movies Which Are Secretly Smart

2. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut

It's no secret today that South Park's Matt Stone and Trey Parker are master satirists, but back when the show's feature film Bigger, Longer and Uncut was released in 1999, the show was still finding its comedic feet and hadn't yet cemented itself as a go-to for egalitarian, take-no-prisoners satire.

As such, few could've expected that the film would turn out to be such a trenchant and unforgettable commentary on the nature of censorship, reflecting Stone and Parker's own run-ins with the MPAA and parents' advocacy groups. That's without ignoring its wonderful takedowns of both Disney and Saddam Hussein.

This isn't some crude emblem of South Park's earlier, less-sophisticated years as many still believe, but a film whose message endures two decades later, where debates around censorship and political correctness still dominate the popular discourse.

All this in a movie with a song called "Uncle F***a." Imagine that.
