15 Essential Batman Villains Not Yet Used In The Movies

Why He's Awesome

Shape-shifting characters can be no more an easy way of writing your way out of ridiculous story-lines, but there is a reason why Clayface is one of the most cult-adored villains among Batman fans. He's hugely powerful, not only because he can turn himself into anyone Batman knows, but also in terms of his durability and strength and his ability to literally drown people with his body.

If there's not a big monster movie with Clayface in a film-maker somewhere, we might as well all give up now. Imagine a thriller, with Batman investigating crimes that seem baffling even to the World's Greatest Detective, only to discover he's been undone by a monster in his midst? It writes itself.

How Likely Is He?

In the old Joel Schumacher universe, Clayface might have worked, but since Christopher Nolan's success turned realism and grit into the approach of choice for Batman (and the wider DCEU), we've moved further away from villains with more pulpy spirits.

Even the MCU have taken years to get to any really cosmic elements, and they've steered mostly clear of supernatural characters. Since Clayface is essentially a monster, he's probably at the bottom of a pile of possibilities, no matter how great. 2/10
