15 Essential Films You Might've Missed From This Decade (So Far)
7. What We Do In The Shadows
If you were to ask someone what contribution New Zealand has made to world cinema then chances are the only name that would spring to mind would be Peter Jackson. This would be unfair to the other creative minds emerging from the other side of the world, not least Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement. Having previously collaborated on the quirky and amusing Eagle Vs. Shark the two comedians have returned once again, this time bringing us the frequently hilarious What We Do In The Shadows, a mockumentary about a group of vampires sharing a flat in Wellington who are as equally perturbed by the mounting piles of washing up as they are concerned with finding their next victims. Waititi and Clement (the latter of whom is also known for being one part of the musically inept duo in Flight Of The Conchords) mine the subject matter for every last drop of humour they possibly can and the visual gags, puns and satirical swipes come thick and fast from start to finish.
