The Movie: Possibly the greatest Troma movie you've never heard of, Screamplay tells the story of aspiring screenwriter Edgar Allen as he arrives in Hollywood with dreams of making it big. Edgar's best attribute is his wild imagination. He imagines scenes so vividly for the murder mystery he's writing that they seem to come to life... and eventually they literally do. As unexplained dead bodies (which he may or may not be responsible for) pile up, Edgar must confront aging actresses, rock stars, and the police in the bleak setting of broken dreams in Hollywood. The Scenery-Chewing Performance: With his ridiculously over-exaggerated facial expressions, Rufus Butler Seder (who also directed the film) is perfect as a manic screenwriter who just might be psychotic. His performance is both endearing and deeply creepy, sort of a mix between Anthony Perkins in Psycho and Christian Bale in American Psycho. Seder's character is so over-the-top and overblown that you won't be sure if you're laughing with him or at him - and isn't that the true sign of any great ham induced performance?
