15 Greatest Cult Actors Of All Time

9. Udo Kier

Let's lose all objectivity for a moment: Udo Kier has the best filmography out of anyone on this list, and can probably therefore be regarded as the best actor. The German doesn't finish as highly as he perhaps deserves on this countdown, but that's primarily due to the fame of those above him - he is an absolutely astonishing performer, and listing of his great roles is exhausting and jaw-dropping. He's been in almost all of Lars Von Trier's projects, including his twisted series Riget in which he played an oversized baby - and made it sympathetic and believable! He starred in Suspiria, which is probably the greatest horror film of all time. He's been in Blade, Shadow Of The Vampire, Armageddon... He's worked with Herzog, Van Sant, Carpenter... This guy has a serious track record, and he steals every film that he appears in. Udo Kier has made the most of being an unusual looking guy, for sure - his image has made him like a modern day version of Austro-Hungarian actor Peter Lorre - but he is also an astonishingly nuanced performer.
