15 Greatest Movie Endings Of The Decade
2. Logan (2017)
Logan might well be the most disturbing ending of any comic book movie ever. Hell, it might well have a claim to being the most distressing movie ending of all time, but that doesn't mean it's not utterly brilliant.
If films are judged solely on their ability to make an audience feel - and there should be a suspicion amongst us all that that's what it SHOULD be about, primarily - then Logan's heart-breaking, wonderful ending is right up there with the very best of all time. After watching our hero drag his makeshift family across America on a quest for hope that looks increasingly desperate, the climax drops an unthinkable evil on the situation and we're forced to deal first with Professor X's death and then Logan's fallibility.
The end comes as it should and Logan dies, having helped save his clone Laura, and in those final moments he tells her to defy what she was designed to be and she acknowledges that he is her father. It's almost too hard to even think about it and it's how the Fox X-Men franchise should have ended.
