15 Greatest Movie Endings Of The Decade

12. Moonlight (2016)

Moonlight Ending
A24

This decade can claim to have produced some of the most beautiful, important love stories of cinema history and the increased focus on LGBTQ romantic stories has led to some even more incredible story-telling.

While Moonlight's brilliance might have been somewhat overshadowed by Warren Beatty and the wrong envelope, it is a beautiful, heart-wrenching tale of different types of love and the thing that it gets absolutely pin-point precise is its sense of mournful longing that almost spills over into resentment.

In the end, after we've seen Chiron grow into drug dealer Black, we get a reunion between he and Kevin, which turns into Black confessing his love in the most touching, understated way. They embrace and while there's no obvious confirmation of them being together, there's hope and the final shot of Chiron as Little on the beach bathed in moonlight feels almost like further confirmation of that.
