Sony PicturesAfter 1978's Superman: The Movie, John Williams set a new standard for superhero scores, standing as the undisputed king among themes for comic book films. It seemed untouchable as a superhero theme; that is until a little film called Spider-Man came around and changed everything. Danny Elfman took the Williams route of big and bold, but did it with his own unique style that spearheaded an entire trilogy of Spidey films. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qcJS_e2_hY Though Elfman took a detour in 1989 with his incredible work on Batman, he eventually went on to craft one of his greatest works in Spider-Man, completely eclipsing any superhero theme that came before. It captured the spirit of Spidey perfectly, the free-spirited nature of swinging around the city without a care in the world and set a new standard for superhero films.
