11. Nightmare Weekend (1986)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygBseFsnbSU Because independent films lack the funding, post-production facilities and distribution that studio pictures take for granted, indie filmmakers have to reinvent the wheel every time they make a movie. Anything can go wrong especially when the backers rewrite the script and bring in a French porn tycoon to direct. Shot in 1982, and picked up for distribution by Troma 4 years later (the poster can be seen in The Toxic Avenger III), Nightmare Weekend tells the touching story of George, a hand puppet with green hair, a heart-shaped mouth and a synthesized voice. Built as a guardian for teenaged Jessica (Debra Hunter) by her scientist pa, George executes Emergency Program Code: Protection Jessica whenever shes in trouble, despatching her attackers with lethal flying silver balls. Got that? Now disregard it and instead concentrate on the fathers crazy assistant, whos invited 3 bimbos to the house so he can turn them into zombies when theyre not getting naked. What happens when these crazed flesh eaters get loose and attack Jessica? Use your imagination. Or if you dont have one, you can always watch the whole film.
