15 Harry Potter Actors Who Are No Longer With Us

1. Richard Harris

Probably the death with the most impact to the Harry Potter series because it struck an actor with a key role as the series was just getting started. Richard Harris was the original - and, as many contend, best - Dumbledore, and his death was felt by fans around the world. Harris was a legend of the silver screen, having appeared in numerous productions, later in life including Clint Eastwood's bookend to the western genre Unforgiven and Ridley Scott's Gladiator, where he portrayed Marcus Aurelius. Playing Albus Dumbldore in both Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, the latter would be one of his final screen credits before passing away at age 72 on October 25, 2002. He had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease that August, while suffering from pneumonia. Harris' storied career included a hit single with a cover of MacArthur Park, being twice nominated for an Academy award, and winning both a Golden Globe and a Grammy. And, of course, playing a wizard. Which Harry Potter actors do you miss the most? Share you pick in the comments below.
