Dogtown And Z-Boys is a documentary film, narrated by Sean Penn, charting the early history of skateboarding culture and how it evolved from its surfing roots to become the popular sport we know today.

The film takes its name from the areas of Southern California where the sport began - known locally as Dogtown - and from the pioneering Zephyr Skateboarding team, of which the director himself was a member.

By combining old footage with contemporary interviews, featuring members of the original Z-Boys and famous faces from the worlds of skateboarding and music, Dogtown And Z-Boys provides an engrossing narrative, topped off by a fantastic soundtrack.

It's well worth a watch, even for those with little more than a passing interest in skateboarding.
