12. Bob Dylan
The songwriter poet of 1960's America, Bob Dylan is one of the most fascinating of America's pop culture icons. Starting out as a folk singer in the style of Woody Guthrie, Dylan became famous for his protest anthems during the 60's including Blowin' in the Wind and the Times They Are a-Changin. After becoming disillusioned with his role as the figurehead of a dissatisfied generation, Dylan completely changed his musical style and turned out some of the greatest Rock and Roll songs ever written. Seen at the time as a sell out, Dylan was booed in arenas across the world although in time, the quality of his new music was recognized. Although the very good semi-biopic of Dylan I'm Not There that came out in 2007, the film was more inspired by Dylan rather than actually being about him. A film about Dylan could explore his place in 1960's culture and focus on how he reverberated as both a protest singer as well as Rock and Roll star. The portion of I'm Not There that featured Cate Blanchett would be a good model for the film to follow.
Casting Choice: I'm not sure, since both Cate Blanchett and Christian Bale were excellent in I'm Not There at portraying different aspects of Dylan's persona, but I think a relative unknown would probably be the best fit.
