13. Marla & Narrator - Fight Club

At the end of David Fincher's masterful Fight Club, the narrator (Edward Norton) has managed to kill off his dissociated personality, Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), with the help of a gunshot to the face. A kidnapped Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter) is then brought to him, as they witness Tyler's plan go off without a hitch: the two hold hands as the credit card buildings begin to explode and the narrator tells Marla, "You met me at a very strange time in my life". The scene is frequently remembered for its use of The Pixies' incredible tune Where Is My Mind?, which fits perfectly to the scene's tone. Seeing this quirky couple stare down complete and utter destruction is an exciting and weirdly beautiful image, and there's even some male genitalia spliced in there for good measure, if you're into that sort of thing...
