14. Tom Hardy - The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Although Hardy had already played movie bad-asses like Charlie Bronson and the warrior Tommy Riordan, for the final Nolan Batman flick The Dark Knight Rises Hardy got even bigger, throwing on another 30 pounds to an already beefy dude in order to play the villain Bane. The prior Dark Knight villains, the Joker, the Scarecrow, and Henri Ducard, managed to pull off threats of evil and mayhem while being more scrawny, playing against Batman with wiles and plotting rather than brute force. Hardy's Bane, on the other hand, manages to be an evil genius while simultaneously being just a huge guy, one powerful enough to break the Batman's back.
