15 Interesting Facts About The Daniel Craig Bond Films

1. Judi Dench Played Two Different Ms

After is was announced that Casino Royale would reboot the franchise, one staple of the cast was retained when it was announced that Judi Dench would return as M. What they never officially told us, however, is that she would be playing a completely different version of the familiar character.

Consider the following, in Goldeneye, Dench€™s debut film, she resents the excess of the 00 program and fights to reign in the long-employed 007. Conversely, in Casino Royale, despite him being a freshly-promoted agent, M repeatedly stands up to defend Bond. That€™s more than simple character growth, that€™s vastly opposing perspectives in two conflicting scenarios.

Then there€™s her identity to think of. In the Goldeneye screenplay and tie-in novels, M is named as Barbara Mawdsley. Recently, however, in Skyfall, some eagle-eyed viewers pointed that M€™s will revealed her name as Olivia Mansfield. This would suggest two separate women, one pre-reboot, and one post-reboot, who just so happen to be played by the same actress.
