15 Laziest Movie Sequels Of All Time
3. Grown Ups 2 (2013)
Grown Ups was essentially a movie about Adam Sandler and his buddies going on vacation and having a good time, and seemingly enjoying themselves a lot more than anybody that had the misfortune of watching it. After the 'comedy' earned a ridiculous $271.4m at the box office, Sandler and chums returned for what marked the actor's first-ever sequel.
Somehow, it was even worse. How this movie cost $80m when its a comedy set almost entirely in one town is beyond me, but it may have something to do with the salaries paid out to star/producer/co-writer Sandler's buddies both in front and behind the camera. This is studio comedy at its laziest; the movie doesn't even have a plot, and serves to present a series of painfully unfunny sketches that feature everything from a urinating deer to Academy Award nominee Salma Hayek being farted on. Oh, the hilarity.
In keeping with Sandler's frankly mystifying box office appeal, the sequel pulled in almost $250m at the box office to somehow turn Grown Ups into a half billion dollar franchise. Which is a hugely depressing fact, given that this is one of the laziest, most uninspired, irritating and laugh-free comedies ever to hit the big screen.
