Looking back at The Nightmare Before Christmas, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that it took a long time to turn Tim Burton and Henry Selick's vision into the stop motion classic. Knowing what we do now about the medium, it's obvious that it would, even with the process honed and refined now by the likes of Laika to be more efficient.

Back then, when stop motion was still comparatively rare as a mainstream medium, a single minute of the film took an entire week to film. That's commitment.

And to help film those sequences, the animators used more than 400 different Jack Skellington heads.
