15 Most Anti-Climactic Movie Showdowns

The Showdown: John Preston (Christian Bale) hunts down the movie's big bad, Father (Angus Macfadyen), but must first take on his former partner, Brandt (Taye Diggs), in a swordfight no less.

The Anti-Climax: The two ready themselves for what's sure to be a killer fight...but as soon as Brandt moves to strike, John slices him several times, causing him to immediately drop to his knees. After a beat, his face slides clean off his head (complete with the requisite awful early-2000s CGI), as Father watches on in horror.

With the fight being preceded by so much over-the-top action, this non-battle caught audiences majorly off-guard, even if it is pretty hilarious, and the insane final fight against Father that follows, overdosing on the movie's innovative "gun kata" nonsense, is a lot of demented fun. In short, it'll make you laugh and there's plenty more action to salivate over, so it could be a lot worse.
