#13 - The Worlds End
Release Date: Oct. 25th One could almost hear the collective cheers of joy when it was officially announced that Edgar Wright was going to once again direct his good chums, Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, in the capper to the unofficial Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy. It has become so named due to the fact that the first two (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz - as if you needed reminding) contain the common elements of, you guessed it, blood and ice cream (most commonly Cornettos). The plot of this film is pretty straightforward: a group of 5 childhood friends reunite 20 years after attempting, and failing an epic pub-crawl, to try it all again. The eponymous bar of the title is the finish line that they all strive to reach as they attempt to reconcile their pasts and presents. Even though I said its pretty straightforward sounding, you never quite know what curve balls Edgar Wright and company will throw your way. That alone is enough to get my ass in a seat.
12. Anchorman: The Legend Continues
Release Date: TBA, probably late Summer/early Fall Do I really need to explain why you should be looking forward to this movie? If so, just let me say that you look like a blueberry and youre a smelly pirate hooker. But seriously, if you need some help getting your excitement up on this one, go watch the first one. The funniest movie of 2004, and one of the best comedies of the 00s. Endlessly quotable, and always funny. Heres hoping that director Adam Mckay, Will Ferrell, and the rest of the returning cast (including the entire news team) can live up to the expectations of me, and millions of other fans, with this sequel that reportedly focuses on the emergence of the 24-hour news channels and how Ron Burgundy and Company handle the change. Something tells me theyll nail it.
