9. Man of Steel
Release Date: June 14th The biggest question mark for me on this list. Mainly, how high do we set our expectations for this film? Directed by Zack Snyder, and godfathered by Christopher Nolan, Man of Steel is, if nothing else, intriguing. The teaser trailer certainly looked promising, but then again so did the trailer for Sucker Punch, and we all know how that turned out (not good, like REALLY not good). The biggest thing this movie has going for it, at this point, is the involvement of Nolan and David Goyer, Hans Zimmer (!), and the cast - Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Russell Crowe. Snyder can deliver when pushed by the right people, but he can also suck it up when turned loose to his own devices. Lets hope that even though this was being filmed at the same time as The Dark Knight Rises (how long is the post-production on this?!) that Nolans influence extended beyond the script phase. In other words, lets hope for one of those movies that Snyder where he was pushed by the right people, and not left to his own devices.
8. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Release Date: Dec. 13th There are some people right now who are probably yelling at their keyboards right now, banging their fists on their desk, ripping their hair out and cursing my name for placing this so low on the list, but bear with me here. The main reason its only a measly 8th on this list is the fact that we havent yet seen The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, so we dont really know just how much we should be looking forward to this one. My gut tells me it should be higher, and probably deserves to be, but my list, my reasoning. Plus, look at it this way - if this movie is at 8, what seven movies could possibly rank higher? Well, Ill tell you....
