The original Purge movie was an anomaly for Platinum Dunes it wasnt flat, sluggish or a remake, so you can see why the company turned it into a franchise. Slated for a July 2016 release, and once again directed by James DeMonaco from his own script, Purge 3 is rumoured to be a prequel of sorts that takes place on the night of the very first purge. That explains the films tagline (Every purge has a beginning), but how does Frank Grillos cop, returning from The Purge: Anarchy, fit into the plot? Or you could look at it this way: if The Purge was DeMonacos tribute to Assault On Precinct 13 (he scripted the remake, after all) and The Purge: Anarchy was his tribute to Escape From New York, will The Purge 3 pay homage to They Live? Find out in July 2016.
