James Cameron's masterful action sequel is an embarrassment of riches as far as explosions are concerned, with at least three legendary incendiary displays worthy of recognition.

We'll give honourable mentions to both the T-1000's (Robert Patrick) tanker truck explosion and the stunning nuclear blast, but the real winner here is the destruction of the Cyberdyne building in act three.

Poor Miles Dyson (Joe Morton) just wanted to build a computer chip to help humanity, but he ended up having to lay down his life in order to prevent a cyborg apocalypse.

Shortly after being mortally wounded while holding the detonator to the explosives, he dies from his injuries, dropping the dead man's switch and triggering an orgasmically huge fireball. The helicopter pilot was right - "We got a warzone down here."

It's especially impressive as no miniatures or clever visual effects tricks were employed here: Cameron actually blew the hell out of a real building while the cast and crew watched in amazement from a safe distance.
