15 Most Disturbing Horror Movies Ever
4. Salo
Who says a list of the most disturbing
horror films can’t have a little highbrow art cinema thrown in there for good measure?
Directed by Italian artist/actor/activist Pier Paolo Pasolini, Salo sees a set of innocent teenagers kidnapped and subjected to all manner of horrific psychological and physical torture over four long months by a set of corrupt Italian bureaucrats. That’s it in terms of plot, meaning the frequently banned film needs to fill the rest of its screen time with all manner of sexual degradation, corprophilia, mutilation, murder, branding, scalping, and suicide.
The film is an almost unwatchable parade of obscenity loosely adapted from the works of the Marquis de Sade, its potent social commentary brought to life by a slew of vile scenes most viewers will find themselves unable to sit through.
