15 Most Ridiculous Movies In Development

14. Geostorm

Rampage The Rock
Warner Bros. Pictures

Release Date: October 20, 2017

The Pitch: A man (Gerard Butler) is sent into space to stop climate-controlling satellites from unleashing an apocalyptic storm upon Earth, all while his brother (Jim Sturgess) uncovers a plot to assassinate the President (Andy GarcĂa).

Why It's Ridiculous: For starters, the title sounds like an early-2000s straight-to-DVD sci-fi flick, and even on its own terms the plot is totally absurd, especially the seemingly tacked-on President storyline (because satellites that can change the weather apparently aren't enough). And of course, who else is it going to star but Gerard Butler?

Will It Be Any Good?: It's the directorial debut of producer Dean Devlin (Independence Day), which leaves a lot up in the air, but with a release that's been delayed numerous times (it started shooting in October 2014), it's hard to be enthusiastic.
