15 Movie Sequels That Better Happen In 2017
4. Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian
The Original: Tim Burton's iconic, beloved gothic screwball comedy, which helped make a star out of Michael Keaton and of course led to him eventually playing Batman.
The Sequel: The concept for Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian has been around since 1990, which would see Betelgeuse (Keaton) facing off against a Hawaiian Kahuna and winning a surfing contest with magic. You're welcome.
The project was deemed "unmakeable" in the late 90s, though in 2011, Seth Grahame-Smith (who wrote Burton's Dark Shadows) was hired to pen the script, with Burton, Keaton and Winona Ryder set to return.
How Likely Is It?: Well, a version of the script was completed a while ago, but Burton's last official word was "there's nothing concrete yet" back in May. While this one really, desperately just needs to get friggin' made, with Burton set to direct Disney's upcoming live-action Dumbo movie, that's probably going to take up a year or two of his time.
If it does happen, it probably won't be until at least 2019. 2/10
