15 Movie Sequels That Better Happen In 2017

The Originals: The 2004 and 2007 Nic Cage-starring adventure films, which despite mixed reviews from critics have grossed over $800 million worldwide on a combined $230 million budget.

The Sequel: National Treasure 3 has been in development since the second movie unexpectedly outgrossed the original by over $100 million, yet despite how seemingly easy it should be to get the project moving, it still hasn't materialised almost a decade later even though it's definitely "in the works".

How Likely Is It?: Disney CEO Bob Iger said in March that it hadn't yet been officially green-lit, but given that various scripts have been doing the rounds for years, it's certainly possible that NT3 could just flash into gear at a moment's notice. Cage doesn't exactly have many high-profile projects on his slate right now, so he'll surely be game.

Don't be surprised if this one actually does end up shooting in 2017. 5/10
