Warcraft may have been a commercial disappointment and basically saved by its box office performance in China, but the property is too potentially lucrative to ditch after one underwhelming film, especially as it probably still made Universal a decent chunk of change overall.

Director Duncan Jones has expressed interest in a sequel though Universal have kept oddly quiet about it, perhaps wanting to see how the movie performs on home video markets before giving it the green light.

Its $433.5 million worldwide total makes it the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time, so if there's any video game movie that's decisively earned a sequel, it's got to be Warcraft.

Sure, the film wasn't very good, but if the sequel leaps forward to follow Thrall as an adult, then it could definitely course-correct the franchise moving forward.
