15 Movies You Loved As A Kid (That Are Actually Terrible)

5. The Wizard

The Wizard Power Glove

As a kid, The Wizard seemed like the coolest movie ever, following three gamers who embark on a road trip to compete in a video game competition.

And if that wasn't neat enough, the film was also hyped-up to feature the first western footage of Super Mario Bros 3.

If it's not abundantly clear already, The Wizard was nothing more than a feature-length product placement exercise for Nintendo, created in order to drum up hype for the new Mario game after it was delayed due to a manufacturing shortage.

The NES Power Glove also makes an infamous appearance, memorable only for Lucas' (Jackey Vinson) smug utterance of the immortal one-liner, "I love the Power Glove. It's so bad."

With baffling tonal choices and little creative reason to exist, The Wizard was fine for youngsters who didn't know any better, but watched as a card-carrying adult? It's a grotesque curiosity at absolute most.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
