13. Fifty Shades Of Grey Becomes One Of The Highest-Grossing R-Rated Movies Ever, Kickstarts A Franchise

It's certainly not one of our most anticipated movies of 2015, but the hype that's going to build around this adaptation of E.L. James' controversial erotic novel is undeniable. We're more morbidly curious than anything to see how far director Sam Taylor-Johnson can push the material, and though the R-rating is encouraging, we're pretty much expecting Fifty Shades of Grey to be a softcore porno and little else. That said, it's almost certainly going to be a huge box office success, considering the popularity of the source material and the fact that girlfs the world over will be dragging their boyfriends to the cinema with the promise of getting to ogle some boobs. With the immense popularity of the novel, if the movie can be marketed as an "event" movie, a guilty indulgence for middle-class housewives to go see with their girlfriends as well as everyone else, then it certainly has the potential to become one of the highest-grossing R-rated movies of all time, even if it (probably) gets savaged by critics. And of course, the sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed will likely follow...
