12. Idina Menzel In Uncut Gems
As the intensely angry wife of Howard Ratner, Idina Menzel shines in a role you wouldn't at all expect from her after her big break as the singer of Let It Go in Frozen. She is relentlessly bitter and hateful towards Howard, in a way that makes the viewer wince. However, you also can't exactly blame her for being sick of Howard's behavior.
She's the rare kind of character who is never anything but mean, but not in a way that you get mad at her over. The spite in her voice and the disgust in her eyes every time she talks to Howard is unreal. Menzel radiates hateful energy throughout the film.
She certainly has the potential for a great villain role, judging by her ability to channel so much vitriol into her performance as the not exactly villainous, but certainly antagonistic, Dinah Ratner.
