15 Supporting Comic Book Movie Characters Who Stole The Show

14. Abe Sapien

Hit Girl Kick Ass
Columbia Pictures

It took a superb double act in thesps Doug Jones and David Hyde Pierce to bring Ape Sapien to the big screen. With Jones on performance duties and Pierce giving this fishman his voice, the character was ripped wonderfully from the pages of Mike Mignola’s comic series, making his grand entrance in a fish tank in Hellboy’s first outing and given a poignant story thread in The Golden Army. As showcased in the aforementioned sequel, he is also one hell of a sharpshooter.

With no sign on a third Hellboy movie on the horizon, Jones remains conncted to the character, performaing something of a switcheroo by providing voiceovers for him in a clutch of animated features.
